FOR PURCHASE
Pūrciems is a traditional Kurzeme fishing village with a small wooden house structure. The fishermen's homesteads are arranged in a scenic manner along the sea coast behind the dune belt, and a winding dirt road winds through the village. The "Skroderi" homestead is located directly behind the second dune rampart, and through pine and mixed tree groves behind the dune depression a view of the sea opens up. The driveway to the homestead is located at the back of the plot.
The new development consists of two linear volumes - a residential house and an outbuilding. The residential house is located in a meadow parallel to the sea coast line. The outbuilding is located along the northern border of the plot. The gap between the ends of the two buildings coincides with the opening towards the sea perspective. Both buildings form an ensemble, the architecture of which has one language - very simple rectangular volumes in wooden frame structures with vertically laid board cladding. Both buildings have single-pitched roofs that fall onto the courtyard space, creating a gentle slope, a transition from the high tree walls to the warm and wind-protected fence with an orchard. The roofs are covered with aspen wood shingles. Both buildings are silver-gray, similar to the old fishermen's houses and barns in the area.
The main idea of the project - the residential house behind the dune is placed on a wooden slatted platform raised on concrete piles. The volume of the house is detached from the existing ground level with the aim of seeing the sea from the ground floor of the house across the steep dune hill. From all rooms in the house, through the vertical window openings, the sea is visible, even through tree trunks and foliage in summer, its presence is everywhere, and this feeling permeates the project. The wooden decking board surrounds the volume of the building from all sides. The house is detached from the depression, as if placed on a flying carpet, and this creates a feeling of lightness for the wooden building in the dunes. On the side of the courtyard entrance and at the northern end of the building, a little soil has been added to the edges of the platform, creating a gentle slope along which one can climb to the terrace.
